There are many one pot pasta out there that are real quick and easy to make. This however is the mother of all speedy pasta and you best part? It is still possible to get al dente pasta with this one pot pasta recipe. Well you only need TWO ingredients to make this AND its vegan too!

Pea Pesto Pasta

We have a one pot pasta from a while back with the “standard” pasta ingredients (here) like olives, tomatoes and basil. This one pot pasta use less ingredients, which also means less preparation time and the amount of water does not have to be as accurate as the previous recipe. Peas and Pesto. We used frozen peas which were thrown into the pasta 2mins before the pasta should be done and ready made pesto was added after draining. So that the pasta remains al dente.

You will be surprised by how tasty this dish is. Pesto and peas. Do not be deceived by how simple and plain they look! They will definitely impress you and make you want to have more.

Pea Pesto Pasta

Serves 2-3

1 cup (or more) frozen peas

2-3 tbs pesto

250g spaghetti (or pasta of your choice)




Bring a big pot of salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti. The spaghetti takes about 8-9mins to be al dente. At the 6mins mark I added the frozen peas. ( Add peas 2 mins before the pasta should be al dente).

When peas are added, the temperature will be lowered which means the cooking time may/will be extended. So make sure to STAND by the stove and wait till pasta is done. Taste the pasta to find out if they are done.

When pasta is done, drain and add pesto to the pasta. You could add more or less pesto depending on personal preference. Season with salt and pepper if needed and mix well.
